Inspiration through Prayer: Prayers for All Seasons
Introduction:
The Benedictine Health System is pleased to offer its second volume of Inspiration
Through Prayer entitled, Prayers for All Seasons.
Prayer, as defined in Catechisms, is raising one’s heart and mind to God,
through thought, voice, individually, collectively, privately or in public.
Saints Benedict and Scholastica believed and lived with prayer as an integral
part of their daily lives. In the centuries since Benedict and Scholastica’s
time, followers of the Rule of Benedict have lived by the motto of Ora
et Labora or Prayer and Work, encouraging an equal time for both.
This volume is intended to be a resource for the integration of daily prayer
throughout the Benedictine Health System. The more than 190 prayers included in
this volume cover not only all the seasons in the Church calendar, but many
seasons of one’s life. Prayers of praise, for healing, of gratitude, and for
intercession with life’s challenges are featured. Prayers celebrating the
Feast Days of Saints and the Benedictine Health System Core Values are also
presented.
It is vital for individuals and organizations alike to set aside time for
prayer, to raise the heart and mind to God. In return, God offers divine
guidance and a personal communion with the Father, in the Son and through the
Holy Spirit. This volume of Prayers for All Seasons is a resource to help
individuals and the Benedictine Health System Participating Organizations with
making prayer a part of daily life.
