Senator Al Franken visits Cerenity Care Center on Humboldt

Minnesota Senator Al Franken visited Cerenity Care Center on Humboldt, Jan. 30. Franken toured all the floors, stopped to visit with the residents and also enjoyed doughnuts and coffee in the snack shop where he met with staff.

Franken had the pleasure of meeting Humboldt’s oldest resident, Isabel Dangers, who is 108 years old. They chatted for a while and he told her that he had just signed a certificate congratulating the oldest person in Minnesota who is 110.

Franken expressed his understanding of the dedicated work of employees in the long-term care industry. He was personally touched as his mother lived in a long-term care facility in Minneapolis. Also during his campaign he participated the Walk a Day in My Shoes program where he worked as a nursing assistant for a day. Franken said this opportunity gave him a greater understanding of caregiving.

Franken heard employee concerns about the important issues facing the long-term care industry such as, FMAP extensions and the reimbursement cap for therapy. He assured staff of his commitment to resolving issues in health care.

The camera clicked away as Franken posed for photos with residents and staff. Later that day Franken sent staff an email saying that visiting Cerenity Care Center on Humboldt made his day.
